This course will focus on the theoretical understanding of the structure of nucleons and nucleon excited states and on the exploration of the strong interaction at intermediate distances. The course combines lectures, discussions and presentations. Look inside the Book!

The Structure of the Nucleon, A.W. Thomas and W. Weise, Wiley-VCH Verlag, ISBN: 3-527-40297-7, 1st Edition (2001).
Refereed Journal Articles will be assigned.

Reading Assignments and Presentations

Oral presentations of individual research and reading assignments have to be given during the lectures.
Relevance: 100 points and 30% of your course score.

Analysis and Theoretical Background

Individual analysis tasks will be assigned and the theoretical background has to be established. In a report the analysis results have to be explained in light of the underlying theory.
Relevance: 100 points and 30% of your course score.

Oral Exam

The oral exam is comprehensive and will include all material covered during the semester. All students must take the oral exam.
Relevance: 100 points and 40% of your course score.

Grading Formula

Course Score = 0.3*P+0.3*L+0.4*E
