theoretical condensed matter physics that starts on August 16, 2006. The department is seeking outstanding candidates with a
strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate is expected to interact with
existing experimental programs and establish a highly visible, well funded research program involving graduate students and
post-doctoral scientists. The department has active condensed matter research programs in superconductivity, magnetism,
spintronics, mesoscopic physics, device physics, and quantum computing with strong ties to the newly formed USC NanoCenter. Our
theoretical group focuses on the foundations of quantum theory, fundamental problems in statistical physics, and computational
methods in quantum physics. Candidates should submit a complete curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research
interests and accomplishments, a research plan, and a minimum of three letters of recommendation to: Professor Richard A. Webb,
Chair of the Theory Search Committee, USC NanoCenter, University of South Carolina, Columbia SC 29208. e-mail applications can be
